O-I Glass Reports First Quarter 2022 Results

O-I reported strong first quarter results that significantly exceeded guidance and demonstrated our agility to navigate elevated market uncertainty and volatility. Shipments increased 6.4 percent compared to the prior year period and strengthened over the course of the quarter.
Operating and cost performance surpassed our expectations as improved manufacturing speed and efficiency increased production to support robust demand amid record low inventory levels. Likewise, the benefit of higher selling prices more than offset elevated cost inflation,” said Andres Lopez, O-I Glass CEO.

O.I has a close attachment to Harlow and like new global businesses such as Kao, they put a huge demand on our energy supliers. We all realise that the bottom line for any business is its profits, however do we stop and think what it's costing our enviroment to super heat and remould glass after 1 use? Surely a bottle washer would be far more efficient alongside the reintroduction of bottle deposits..As an aside, I was disappointed to find out that O.I unit cost of glass bottles are more expensive than European ones and that Local companies are importing beer bottles from as far as Poland rather than using those available on the doorstep..excuse the pun!
