HARLOW resident Myrsini Chionia Christodoulelli, 31, has made her community proud by winning a silver medal at the 4th World Tai Chi Championships, held in Singapore from 21st to 28th August.
Competing against top athletes from around the globe, Myrsini excelled in the fiercely contested Women’s Chen Style Taijiquan category, showcasing her dedication, skill, and the rising prominence of Tai Chi in the UK as a competitive sport.

Training under Master Shi Yan Gui (Payam Ezad Panah) at the Shaolin Temple Martial Arts and Cultural Centre GB, Myrsini’s journey has been one of intense dedication. She has embraced both internal and external Chinese martial arts styles, including Taiji, Shaolin, Wushu, and Sanda. Despite beginning her martial arts career in her early 20s, Myrsini’s relentless drive has led to numerous gold medals in Europe and a bronze medal at the IWUF World Kungfu Championship in China.

At the Singapore Championships, Myrsini competed in both the Chen-style Taijiquan and Taijijian (sword) categories, earning a silver medal in Taijiquan and a Top 10 finish in the sword event. Her holistic approach to martial arts, balancing competition training with practical self-defence, reflects her deep understanding of Kung Fu’s essence.
Now back in Harlow, Myrsini continues to make her community proud as she teaches and trains, while preparing for the stunt register and returning to acting.
She hopes to use her platform to showcase the beauty and power of Tai Chi and Kung Fu on the global stage.
Working together with Harlow Council Master Shi Yang Gui and Myrsini will be teaching Free Taichi to help the community and bring the Taichi benefits as a form of exercise.
Her message to others is simple but powerful: “No matter how old you are, it’s never too late to start.
Don’t be afraid of hard work. With passion, perseverance, discipline, and the right guidance, anything is achievable.”
Well done, Myrsini. Tai Chi is a great sport, means of self defence, relaxation and moving meditation, all rolled into one. I hope you'e considering teaching Tai Chi in Harlow, it's a long time since I've done Wave Hands like Clouds, Repulse the Monkey, White Crane Spreads its Wings , Parting the Horse's Mane, Grasping the Bird's Tail and so on. Watching you move so beautifully makes me want to do some more. I remember years ago, watching my old Tai Chi Master send a line of over 30 people, formed into a solid defensive wall, spinning around a hall, and with just one flick of his wrist.
Inspirational !
How marvellous, well done , what an achievement. Your community proud of you and rightly so. I have never heard of you until now and I am proud of you. I will watch out for you.
