A HOLOCAUST Memorial Day event was held in the Harlow Council chamber on Sunday evening.
Every year, the event has a title. This year, it was “For a Better Future”.
The event was led by by Rabbi Irit of Harlow Synagogue.
The welcome was given by the Chair of Harlow Council, cllr Andrew Johnson.
The theme throughout the event was Ten Stages of Genocide.
Film is below.
It is a shame that the Allied powers knew what was happening in early 1943 due to decryption by Enigma of German police and military communications, but did nothing. This was despite Polish courier Jan Karski giving detailed accounts of the execution of thousands of Jews. Requests to bomb the railways leading to the death camps sent to President Roosevelt and the War Refugee Board went unanswered. It is amazing how the death and destruction in Gaza has been equally ignored by the modern day Allied Powers. Once the International Court of Justice has concluded its case on Israel, it may be to the discomfort of the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust to be forced to talk about the Palestinians, how their rights have been stripped away, just as it has been so ready to talk about Rwanda.
