A TRIAL date for a man accused of the attempted murder of two police officers in 2023 has still not been set.

Declan Diedrick, 23, of Hull Grove, Harlow, was charged with two counts of attempted murder and one count of possession of a knife following an incident in his Sumners home on December 29th, 2023.

Diedrick had a case management hearing on Friday March 21st at Chelmsford Crown Court.

The result of which appears to be that he has another case management hearing on May 30th.

No trial date has been set.

Original Story

A MAN has been charged with two counts of attempted murder after two officers were attacked in Harlow.

Police were called to concerns for the welfare of a man in Hull Grove, shortly after 5.45pm on Friday 29 December.

Officers arrived and engaged with a man at the scene who was making threats whilst armed with a knife. 

During that engagement, a female officer sustained a wound to her head. 

She was taken to hospital immediately for treatment and has thankfully was discharged late on Friday evening.  

Support for her is continuing, both from her peers and from senior officers.

A second officer was also the victim of an assault. Thankfully, she did not require hospital treatment and she too is continuing to be supported by the force. 

A man was arrested after additional officers were called the scene. He was initially taken to hospital for treatment before being questioned by officers from Harlow CID.

He is due to appear at Colchester Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, Monday 1 January.

Chief Superintendent Stuart Hooper said: “Thankfully both officers continue to recover from what this harrowing incident on Friday evening. Their welfare remains paramount and they will be given support from the force for as long as they feel they need it.

“We’ve been authorised by the Crown Prosecution Service to charge Mr Diedrick and as such it would be inappropriate to comment any further.
