Chris Vince MP for Harlow welcomes Spring Statement: A stronger economy for local people

Chris Vince / Thu 27th Mar 2025 at 06:30am

CHRIS Vince MP has welcomed today’s Spring Statement, which sets out a “bold vision for economic stability, investment in public services, and support for working people”. he said.

The Chancellor’s announcement confirms that interest rates have now been cut three times, helping local families and businesses struggling with the cost of living. Waiting lists in the NHS have also fallen for five consecutive months, and from next week, three million people—including many in Harlow—will receive a pay rise as the National Living Wage increases.

Speaking about the announcement, Chris Vince said:

“The people of Harlow and the surrounding villages want a government that delivers economic security and a fairer future. The measures announced today will help hardworking families by bringing down inflation, keeping mortgage rates under control, and ensuring that wages rise. After years of economic turmoil, we are getting the economy back on track and making sure working people see the benefits.”
The statement also outlined a major reform of the welfare system to ensure it is sustainable and supports those who need it most.

Chris Vince added:
“I believe in a welfare system that is fair and focused on helping people achieve their potential. The Government is ensuring that those who can work are given the right support to do so, while protecting the most vulnerable. Here in Harlow, I know how important it is to get this balance right, and I will continue to work to ensure our community gets the support it needs.”
Recognising growing global threats, the Government also confirmed a £2.2 billion increase in defence spending next year, alongside new initiatives to boost UK defence innovation and support jobs in the sector.

“Economic security and national security go hand in hand. These measures will strengthen our defences while creating jobs and investment opportunities across the country, including here in Harlow,” Chris Vince said.

The Spring Statement marks the next step in the Government’s long-term plan to rebuild the economy and deliver lasting change. With a focus on stability, investment, and fairness, today’s announcement sets the foundations for a stronger future for Harlow and beyond.

What a disgrace for a so called Labour MP to harm vulnerable people. A yes man who keeps up his abysmal record of support for policies so disgusting that even the Tories would be proud and Attlee would be fighting to get out of his grave to revoke his membership of such an egregious party. And MP Vince does it with a smile on his face. The disabled, ill, young and old in Harlow will suffer and MP Vince will say they had no choice. And if you believe that nonsense I have a bridge to sell you in Rwanda!

Chris vince, watching his own back as usual. This government are balancing there books on the back of the vulnerable in this country. From the very start of this lawyer s reign, he has took, and took from the vulnerable. Businesses are either closing, or there laying people of in there thousands. And as for building 1.5 million houses, where they getting all theses brickie s, from ,Apprenticeship s are laying people of , through your Costs. It takes 3 years to train, a brickie, electrian, and carpenter s.. and by the 4th year, your party will be a distant memory.. Your party need to grow a back bone, and get this man to resign.

Chris Vince has been a massive let down. Just an obedient puppet. A complete unprincipled 'Yes' man. He is a complete economic and financial illiterate and unworthy of representing our town. No doubt he will be voting in favour of the MPs salary increase whilst cutting benefits to the most vulnerable. Truly shameful.

Is anyone else noticing a pattern here? Winter Fuel Allowance, is now means tested. Disability PIP Payments, now assessed, Health related benefits, assessed further. Trade Unions want an inflation busting payrise, signed off without a second thought. And yesterday, Treasury Minister Darren Jones, decribed the PIP payment as "pocket money". My Grandfather, who was a die hard trade unionist labour voter would be ashamed of this current government and their policies which seems to be aimed at those who are least able to fight back

Remember folks. Any idiot can become an MP in this country, no qualifications required. Yet every other profession is highly regulated, and still people are surprised by the poor decisions made in Westminster.

Even the two mp's behind him can't believe the nonsense he's coming out with. His voting history shows party first, people of Harlow second, if at all.

Did you know Chris Vince used to be a teacher, I think he might have only mentioned it about 1000 times. He should go back to that , because he can't do the job he does now. If Starmer or Rayner said jump off the White cliffs of Dover, he would think it was a good idea.

Ted, if he did jump, would just be one sycophant less in Parliament and Harlow & the Villages could have a by-election to elect a decent MP.

#Fact Chris Vince will be a 1 term MP for Harlow, He has clearly shown he has no interest in representing the towns residents and will vote whatever way his puppet master Starmer tells him too.
