Harlow man who posted support on social media for terrorist groups jailed

A MAN who posted supportive messages on social media about proscribed terrorist groups as well as antisemitic posts has been jailed.
Zakir Hussain, 30 (09.01.95) of Harlow, was arrested in March last year after officers from the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command linked him to an X account posting statements in support of Hamas and Hezbollah.
Writing on account ‘@lewiswarren911”, Hussain posted a series of messages on X between November 2023 and January 2024 that celebrated the October 7 2023 Hamas-led attack on Israel. He also wrote numerous antisemitic comments, including praise for the actions of Adolf Hitler.
Commander Dominic Murphy, head of the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command, said: “This investigation started as the result of an anonymous report by a member of the public appalled by the content of Hussain’s X account.
“Our Counter-Terrorism Internet Referral Unit (CTIRU) assessed the content of the posts as being in breach of terrorism legislation and a proactive investigation was launched.
“This case demonstrates, yet again, that we will act when we receive information about social media content that is unlawful. When this happens those responsible can expect to be investigated and prosecuted where the evidence allows.”
At the time of his arrest, Hussain was already serving a suspended sentence for a conviction of malicious communications offences committed in 2021 and 2022. This involved him sending threatening and abusive posts on X to the sister of a man who died in the 1989 Hillsborough disaster.
Hussain was charged on 27 March last year with four counts of supporting a proscribed organization, contrary to section 12 (1A) of the Terrorism Act 2000 and seven counts of publishing threatening, abusive or insulting material, contrary to section 19 of the Public Order Act.
Hussain pleaded guilty to all the charges on the first day of his trial at the Old Bailey on Thursday, 20 March.
He was sentenced at the same court on 26 June to five years and eight months’ imprisonment, plus another three years on extended licence.
He has been remanded in custody for the past year.

Harlow might be where he was arrested but I suspect he's bounced around many places. "At the time of his arrest, Hussain was already serving a suspended sentence for a conviction of malicious communications offences committed in 2021 and 2022". I'm guessing these suspended sentences don't work that great.

Max hits the nail on the head. Radical Islam is no friend of the worker and certainly no friend of social justice politics, let alone socialism. Let's not forget the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem cosied up to Hitler, as did many Bosnian Muslims in fighting Tito's communist partisans. The ideological similarities between Nazism and religious extremism boils down to one central theme: moral and racial superiority. It is what gives otherwise good Muslim taxi drivers and takeaway workers the 'moral justification' to abuse and rape vulnerable white girls. Terrorism is a bourgeois endeavour because it stems from a lack of solidarity with, and non belief in, ordinary working people trying to shape their own destiny. Religious extremism is equally bourgeois in believing a small clique will be the emancipator. Unfortunately, they overlook their barbarity being the catalyst for reactionary policies that undermine the oppressed people they allegedly aim to unchain. A belief in and active participation in worker solidarity that crosses racial boundaries is what will give Muslims their route out of their perceived oppression. It is unfortunate that many on the Left failed to learn the lessons of communist Phil Piratin in opposing Oswald Mosley's fascism in East London in the 1930s. The key lesson he left for us is not to pander to religious community leaders, who will keep their congregation away from the political activists, but instead bypass those 'community leaders' with a direct appeal to Muslim (Jewish in the 1930s) workers for a united front to challenge the establishment. This will be the best antidote to extremist ideology and terrorism. However, the establishment and their lackeys in the labour movement are more fearful of this approach as it breaks down the divisions in society that they rely on to retain power in their respective blocks. The United Front approach is also the best way to tackle the rise of Reform, but Starmer's Labour is so utterly bourgeois that it will pander to prejudice by chasing Reform votes. This will ultimately be counter productive in challenging extremist ideology in the Muslim community.
