Harlow drink driver given ban and heavy fine

A HARLOW resident has been disqualified after pleading guilty to drinking and driving.
Ioan Ivu, aged 46, of Brockles Mead pled to the following at Chelmsford magistrates court.
On July 12th, 2025 at Brockles Mead, Harlow drove a Nissan Qashqai after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in your breath namely 82 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath exceeded the prescribed limit.
Ivu was disqualified for 17 months and fined £900.00

That's not a heavy fine. That's not long enough a ban. People will not stop doing it until the punishment is not worth the risk.
