A MAN has been jailed following an Essex Police investigation into repeated breaches of a court order.

Adan Bath was found to have committed offences, including three counts of attempting to engage in sexual communications with a child, and was sentenced in October 2023.

As part of this sentence, he was made the subject of a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) with strict guidelines he must adhere to including:

• Informing officers within three days if he acquires a device which can access the internet
• Not deleting search history and making device/s available for inspection to police on request
• Notify officers of any accounts used on chat forums, messaging websites and electronic chat applications
• He uses his true name on all social media, forums etc

Officers from our Management of Sexual Offenders and Violent Offenders team (MOSOVO) visited Bath for a routine visit.  During checks on his device they discovered discrepancies in his search history and found he had been using a family member’s phone.

MOSOVO are focused on ensuring any stringent court orders are adhered to and any breaches swiftly detected.

Officers in the team work alongside the probation service to prevent and deter further offending.

Subsequent enquiries into Bath’s activities found that he had breached his SHPO on numerous occasions, including selling a device in Harlow, failing to disclose his use of networking and dating platforms and deleting messages and browsing history.

Bath was interviewed in July 2024 and when asked about the breaches he accepted that he had not followed the guidelines.

The 41-year-old of HMP Chelmsford was charged with 13 counts of breaching his SHPO.

He pled guilty and was jailed for two and a half years when he appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court yesterday (Wednesday 29 October).

His SHPO remains in place until October 2033 and he remains of the sex offenders’ register.

MOSOVO officer Jai Rivers said: “This case highlights the importance of our monitoring work. By actively managing his SHPO, we were able to look at his behaviour and, crucially, investigate where he was not adhering to the strict guidelines.

“Bath thought he could ignore and try to manipulate these restrictions, but that is not the case, and he is rightly serving a prison sentence for these actions.
