Council leader issues statement following news that Harlow Town Football Club has gone into adminstration

Football / Sat 10th Jan 2026 at 06:17pm

THE LEADER of Harlow Council has issued a statement following the announcement that Harlow Town Football Club has fallen into administration.

Harlow District Council owns the freehold of the ground at Barrows Farm in The Pinnacles area off Elizabeth Way.

Cllr Dan Swords, Leader of Harlow Council said:

“The news that Harlow Town FC has entered administration is deeply concerning. For generations, thousands of Harlow residents have supported the club through good times and bad, and it is their interests that must come first.

“Unlike any other sporting club in the town, Harlow Town FC operates as a limited company owned by an individual rather than as a community-run organisation.

“My sole focus is on protecting football in our town, the volunteers, and the supporters – not the company itself.

“We are working urgently to establish the full facts, and I am clear that the council will do everything within its powers to safeguard football in our town and stand firmly behind the supporters.”

Football is a hobby a pass time why should the local council care about that. Dan focus on what you collect our taxes for not a hobby.

Im with you Pete. Harlow Town FC is important to this town and its people. Not all of them as Adam points out. The town should have and deserves a bigger better supported more successful club. Like our MP Chris Vince I believe you both care about the town you serve and are both doing a good job. Do what you can Dan to keep Harlow Town FC going.

We have been here before. This is a tragedy in the making.lt was only a couple of years ago Harlow had to drop out of the league with a new dodgy pitch .Never any informed communication .Always alot of unanswered questions. The club has been failing for years ever since Mr Cunningham took control. The club have been living financially beyond their means. Is it the ghost of Danny Norris? The Receivers will have an idea where it went wrong with the money. The vultures will be waiting. Let's please be informed and have some good news for a change. My guess is no news for months. What a sham and shame

Adam,Jasper and James Gamble, are you always this pessimistic, or are you the prophets of doom. What’s it like being you and writing rubbish, get yourselves a life and cheer up.
