Former Harlow MP Robert Halfon responds to news of Robert Jenrick’s defection to Reform

THE FORMER Conservative MP for Harlow Robert Halfon has responded to the news that his former colleague Robert Jenrick has defected to Reform.

Mr Halfon welcomed Mr Jenrick to Harlow back in the general election year of 2019.

Mr Halfon said: “Of course it is really sad when anyone leaves the Conservative Party. People will always come and go but the Conservative Party is the most successful democratic political party in the world and has a remarkable history of revival,  even after election defeats.

“My hope is that the Centre Right will unite in order to present a positive programme of change for the country: Cutting immigration, cutting the cost of living, containing welfare spending, and championing apprenticeships.

“I think that the Harlow Conservative Party is showing what good Conservatives can do in practice, with their strong stewardship of Harlow Council, with their programme of renewal of our town centre, freezing Council tax and dealing with anti social behaviour”

Here is our interview with Robert Jenrick in 2019.

Tough times calls for tough decisions and great leadership skill means making the right decision. Kemi has shown exactly this to have had him in her cabinet and then making the tough decision to expelling him as request from his Newark association. The British public deserve better and not self seeking career driven politicians , who will sink the entire boat if not in leadership. We do need such persons within the party or in public office so I say good riddance and well done Kemi.
