ESSEX County Council is pleased to learn that the Department for Education has selected two preferred Academy sponsors for Braiswick School in Colchester and Rivermill Academy in Harlow, meaning that progress can continue on developing the two new builds funded through the government’s Targeted Basic Need bid.
REAch2 has been confirmed as the Academy sponsor for the Rivermill Academy in Harlow. The Academy will be a new 210 place primary school. Further details on the new build and refurbishment will be made available in 2014.
The Learning Pathways Trust has been confirmed as the Academy sponsor for the Braiswick Academy in Colchester. The Braiswick Academy will be a new primary academy with a capacity of 420 pupils catering for children aged 4 to 11.
Essex County Councillor Ray Gooding, Cabinet Member with responsibility for Education and Lifelong Learning said: “I am pleased that Academy sponsors for both the Rivermill Academy and Braiswick Academy have now been confirmed. Having sponsorship finalised means we can now continue to progress with the process of building the new schools. Both schools will be welcomed in the county, as they will make significant steps in combatting the pressures on school places.”
