Communities / Sat 25th Jan 2014 at 07:20pm

A NUMBER OF families were made homeless on Saturday night after the roofs from their homes were torn off by a storm.

The wind ripped through the five houses in Upper Mealines on the Trotters Road that connects Southern Way with Commonside Road.

The incident happened at just after 4.30pm when a extraordinary storm ripped through Harlow.

There were some reports of a tornado seen but whatever happened, there was a trail of devastation left in the town.

YH spoke to the Incident Commander on Trotters Road. He said: “It is not known how long the road will be blocked off for or how long the families will be homeless”.

The fire crew in attendance were from Ongar as many of the Harlow units were out and about in the town.

More to follow on an evening of havoc in Harlow.
