MAVERICK Harlow Councillor, Joshua Jolles has called for a cull in the number of councillors in Harlow.

The former Tory, who last week launched the Harlow Independent Party, made the point at a recent meeting of the council.

At present there are 33 councillors in 11 wards for a population of 80,000.

Cllr Jolles would like to see it cut to 22 and suggested the 22 then ‘Work a bit harder.”

Any decision would not be “in the gift” of the council and would need to be made by the secretary of state.
