Questionnaire for proposed M11 junction 7a reopened

A QUESTIONNAIRE about the proposals for the new M11 junction 7a has been reopened for further comments to alleviate some confusion which arose around the last question.

The questionnaire, which originally closed on 31st January 2014, has been reopened until 17th March 2014, with the question which had previously caused some confusion subsequently revised.

Essex County Council introduced the questionnaire alongside exhibitions which were held in and around Harlow from December 2013 to January 2014 with the ultimate aim of both activities being to seek feedback from residents, road users and other interested parties on the proposals to introduce a new junction on the motorway.

However, concerns were raised about the format of question 5 (which asked participants to rank the three presented options for the junction) which did not permit a nil response and, therefore, may not have given a true representation of residents’ views. As a result the question has been revised, and members of the public have been given some further time to submit responses.

Responses received to date remain relevant and will be considered alongside any additional questionnaires received.

County Councillor Rodney L Bass, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transportation, said: “Local residents have rightly raised concerns where they have not been able to express their views via our online questionnaire as they wished. We have therefore reopened the questionnaire to ensure people have the opportunity to get their views across.”

The exhibition materials and the revised questionnaire can be accessed via the website www.essex.gov.uk/junction7a.

The scheme is being promoted by Essex Highways, a strategic partnership between Essex County Council and Ringway Jacobs.

The feedback collected via the exhibitions and questionnaire will inform further design work prior to a full public consultation in summer 2014.
