HARLOW Ladies crushed close rivals Chelmsford 27-5 in the RFUW National Challenge South East North division one.

The Rams ran in five good tries to secure the win on Sunday making sure of the league points and a bonus point for scoring more than four tries.

Playing with the slope in their favour fly-half Sarah Stimpson got them off to a good start, breaking through the defence with sheer speed.

Chelmsford took advantage of a penalty to get up into the Harlow 22 and from a driving maul powered over for a try.

Harlow countered with forwards and backs linking well to add three more tries, one converted by Sonia Rochester, to make the score 22–5 at the interval.

In the second half playing up the slope and into a strong wind, the hosts found it harder to get deep into the Chelmsford half.

The visitors defended strongly but when they did break out determined tackling kept them well clear of the line.

Harlow added one more try for a score of 27–5 at the close.

The other try scorers were Lorna Hunter, a second for Stimpson, Louise Steel and Julie Gilbert.
