pass3PASSMORES ACADEMY and Burnt Mill Academy have once again topped the poll judging by the number of applications they received for pupils to enter Year 7 in September 2014.

Passmores Academy had 706 applications in total for just 210 places. Burnt Mill Academy wasn’t far behind with 643 applications for their 210 places.

270 applicants put Burnt Mill down as first preference whilst Passmores Academy had 269.

Stewards Academy looks like it has carved out a niche for itself. They had 484 applications for 210 places with 187 applicants putting the school down as their first choice.

The statistics make very sobering reading for St Marks and Mark Hall. It does not seem so long ago that the two schools were battling it out for top spot in the town.

Mark Hall had 233 applications for 150 places. However, there were only 30 applicants putting the school down as their first choice.

St Marks had 348 applications for 160 places and only 88 applicants put the Catholic school down as their first choice.
