HARLOW track star, Andrew Osagie won bronze in the 800m final at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Sopot, Poland on Sunday (March 9).
Osagie had finished fourth and just out of the medals but then Polish athlete Marcin Lewandowski was disqualified for stepping into the infield.
A delighted Osagie spoke to the BBC and gave his version of events.
He said: “I did notice one Polish athlete put his foot on the inside track. I got done at the trials for doing exactly the same thing.”.
The GB team immediately lodged a protest and following a review Osagie was awarded the bronze.
Favourite Mohammed Aman took gold in 1:46.76, with Adam Kszczot of Poland taking silver in 1:46.76.
