EAST Herts Council’s 12-week consultation into the draft District Plan has just passed the half-way stage but there are still five weeks until it closes on May 22.

The Plan sets out where the council thinks houses and related infrastructure could go in the district until 2031.

During the consultation the council is attending 20 evening meetings in community venues across the district for people to find out more and ask questions and there are frequent updates on Twitter, Facebook and in the local media.

Everyone who lives or works in East Herts is encouraged to look at the consultation documents on the council’s website and submit their comments. The full draft of the Plan is also available in libraries, town council offices, the district council offices in Bishop’s Stortford and Hertford and leisure centres.

Mike Carver, Executive member for strategic planning and transport, said: “The District Plan will shape the future of East Herts for many years to come, so before we move to the next stage, we want to hear everyone’s comments on the draft.”

After the consultation, all responses will be considered and collated into a new draft which is due to be completed by the end of the year.

Before the District Plan comes into force it will be examined in public by an independent government inspector.
