Athletics: Kinney hits the Big Sur in California

HARLOW Running Club’s adventurous member Andy Kinney crossed the
continental United States to compete in the Big Sur International
Marathon on the California coast just a week after completing the
Boston Marathon. Kinney finished the very hilly and windy race in
2916th place out of 3335 finishers in 5hrs 35min 47sec.

Meanwhile at a very warm Madrid Marathon Alan Cootes finished in
6905th place out of 11,365 finishers in a superb 4hrs 04min 16sec and
daughter Louise was 9878th in 4hrs 32min 39sec.

At the Braintree 5 Mile Pasquale Pellecchia finished in 126th place
out of 402 finishers in an excellent 36min 35sec and he was followed
home by Sharon Wright 141st in 37min 07sec. Janice Page 192nd in 39min
29sec, David Page 210th in 40min 14sec and Debbie Barry 230th in 41min
17sec, all finished in their personal best times for the distance.
Terry Pike 268th finished in 43min 16sec, his second race of the
weekend, and Vicky Calver 358th in 50min 01sec.

At the St Albans Parkrun 5K Richard Solomons finished in 90th place
out of 232 finishers and 1st Vet 65 in a superb 24min 22sec.

At the Gunpowder Parkrun 5K in Waltham Abbey Terry Pike finished in
62nd place out of 105 finishers in 27min 21sec.
