Ward by Ward: Toddbrook” Will Buss drive the UKIP vote to victory?

News / Thu 15th May 2014 at 10:37am

DEPUTY leader of Harlow Council, Rod Truan won this seat in 2010 by 191 votes. If he managed to do that in a year in which Labour (nationally) were fairly unpopular, then he should have no problem here.

Having said that, Conservative candidate lost by just 122 in 2011 but Phil Waite then won the seat by 248 in 2012. In the by-election of 2012, Labour won again by 221 seats.

There is no doubt that Michael Hardware will once again run a good campaign but this time he will also have a UKIP candidate standing.

Longbanks resident, Peter Buss will have the wind behind him and could well eat into both candidates votes. There are a lot of disaffected people out there. Harlow has never really had an opportunity to protest properly and this might be the time. It is all a question of whether Mark Gough and his team can mobilise his troops.

YH prediction: Lab hold by 200

Toddbrook
Peter Buss (UKIP)
Michael Hardware (Cons)
Rod Truan (Lab)
