THE future of Harlow Town Market stalls looks bleak after more reports of customer numbers dropping.
A worker at the Phone Clinic Stall said: “I have been working here since it was set up 10 years ago. We used to get a lot of business, but now we only see the same regular customers.
“2014 has definitely been our worst year in Harlow, but we have had good business in the stalls we operate elsewhere.
“In my time here I have seen so many stalls come and go, it’s a shame to have seen so many stalls collapse so quickly.”
The Market opened on May 16th 1956 and used to take up all of Market Square with a large variety of goods, but now only phone, clothing, food and bric-a-brac stalls remain.
Other stall workers were not available to comment but did say business has been slow in recent times.
Stalls are open 9am-4pm Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 9am-5pm Fridays and Saturdays.
