Families in Harlow will be able to enjoy a day at the beach without leaving town.

THE theme for the first Party in the Park at Freshwaters Primary Academy, in School Lane, is all things sun, sea and sand.

The outdoor event – which replaces the traditional school fete – is being held to bring the community together for an afternoon of fun and entertainment.

The school is now appealing for local businesses and residents to help create the scene, by donating sand, giant beach balls and water slides and providing craft stalls and entertainment.

The party, after school on Friday July 4, will be organised, set up and run by pupils to give them ownership of the event.
Acting headteacher Marios Solomonides said: “We want to transform the school grounds into a beach festival – and we need your help!

“If you have a licence to sell food, we would love you to run our barbecue, but we would also welcome donations of food, napkins and plates. Or, if you have unwanted gifts, please donate them as raffle prizes.

“We want a party atmosphere, with lots of music and entertainment – are you part of a band or dance group who would like to perform? Please get involved.”

Pupils have made giant photo boards for guests to poke their heads through for humorous photos and students from neighbouring Burnt Mill Academy will be performing on the day.

If you would like to book a stall for the Party in the Park, which will be held from 3.30pm until 5.30pm, contact [email protected] or Tweet the school @FreshwatersAcad
