Athletics: Another Kinney double marathon

HARLOW Running Club member Andy Kinney completed another of his exhausting double race weekends. On Friday he ran the Ards Half Marathon in County Down Northern Ireland, finishing in 510th place out of 639 finishers in 2hrs 09min 48sec. Then on Saturday, just a few miles away, he ran the Bangor Parkrun 5K finishing in 110th place out of 179 finishers in 30min 15sec.

Another runner who put in an exhausting effort was Jamie Jephcott who competed in the Endure 24 Hour race, run over a 5 mile loop of forest trails. It takes place in the scenic Wasing Park Estate, Aldermaston near Reading. In recent years Jephcott has performed very well in this event with 2nd and 4th place finishes but this year suffered an injury after 14 hours. However, he still managed to cover 11 laps and 55 miles in 14hrs 13min 22sec to finish in 73rd place out of 121 competitors.

At the Gunpowder Parkrun 5K Spencer Brooks finished in 28th place out of 121 finishers in 22min 56sec and Pushpa Mistry 76th in a personal best time for the distance of 28min 37sec.

At the Basingstoke Parkrun 5K Richard Solomons finished in 44th place out of 316 finishers in 21min 31sec.

At the City of London Mile, starting outside St Paul’s Cathedral, Mark Hayward finished in 150th place out of 609 finishers in 5min 55sec.
