CLOCK Tower Roundabout improvements can now commence with the announcement that Jackson Civil Engineering Group Ltd has been appointed as contractor for the Harlow scheme.

Harlow County Councillor Eddie Johnson, deputy to the Cabinet Member for Highways and Transportation, said: “This important £4.2m scheme will ease congestion to and from the M11, improving access to the new Enterprise Zone and town centre. It includes the construction of two new slip lanes, and the widening of the other approaches to the roundabout.

“In addition, pedestrian and cycle facilities, along with lighting at the Clock Tower Roundabout junction, will be improved.”

Preliminary works begin in late July 2014, underground utilities works take place August 2014 to February 2015, and the main works will be carried out between October 2014 and May 2015.

Councillor Tony Durcan, Harlow Council’s Portfolio Holder for Resources and Enterprise, said: “This is a busy part of the town but the improvements this work will bring to Harlow are of great importance in helping create jobs and business growth in future and they will ease traffic flow for everyone.”
