Help paint a brighter future for Harlow’s youth

Lifestyle / Fri 18th Jul 2014 at 12:17pm

A TEAMphoenix of experienced, passionate and dedicated youth workers from Harlow have joined forces to create what is looking to be Harlow’s biggest and most innovative youth club to date, but they need your help to make their dreams become reality.

Continuing on from the Harlow Youth Council’s Cafe Youth project, the fantastic volunteers from Harlow are re-branding and re-locating the youth centre based in West Gate to a much larger and accessible premises in East Gate in Harlow Town Centre. They are looking for paint to decorate the new venue and volunteers to help get the venue ready for opening.

Emma Batrick, who has years of experience working with young people also hosts a radio show with Hawk FM, explains “We open properly on the 2nd of August but we’re decorating this Saturday – the 19th. We need paint, if anyone has any left over bits they might never use but don’t want to waste, it won’t be wasted with us. Also, if anyone has any time to help us paint, all hands on deck 🙂 We’re based at 17 East Gate, opposite Natwest. We’ll be there 12-4. If you don’t have time to paint, come say hello and find out more.”

The volunteers at Phoenix Youth Club are able to provide a range of bordeom busting activities such as:

Football Table
Nintendo Wii
Arts and Crafts
Activity Days

They can also provide a safe place for young people to meet and relax at the weekend and be on hand to help with things such as homework or to just be there for young people as somebody to talk to.
