1st XI 189 for 10 lost to Stanford Le Hope by 2 wickets
HARLOW Town CC captain won the toss and elected to bat in hot dry conditions. Batting proved much harder than expected on a worn and frequently used wicket with early deliveries popping up hitting the batsman in the chest and gloves. Brothers Scott and Shaun alderson set about recovering the innings putting on a 80 run partnership until Scott was removed on 33 followed in a couple of overs later by Shaun who made 40. Dan Farmer hit a quick 19 to set a target of 189 which in the conditions was quite respectable.
Town got off to a great start getting three early wickets including the wicket of key man Ross Poulton bowled by Hassan Ali. Stamford were struggling on 38-3 before a partnership between Michael Gray (52) and Thomas Willats (26) put the home side in a good position at 122 before the later got out, and was quickly followed by Gray, putting the game back in the balance. Stanford le hope required 50 to win with Town needing 5 wickets. Sachin Sewgobind (31) got the majority of the runs while town picked up 3 more wickets to leave a close and nervy finish. Stamford eventually ran out winner by 2 wickets. Pick of the town bowlers were Hassan Ali picking up 4 wickets and Dan Farmer picking up 3 wickets.
A disappointing result for the Town who now drop to 3rd in the league but with a game in hand it is all still to play for.
