SATURDAY saw the Herts and Essex community farm’s first ever Farm Fest, and despite rain the previous night, on the day the weather couldn’t have been better. An all day BBQ in the July sunshine was accompanied by a variety of musical and comedy acts on the outdoor stage.

As with any festival there were stalls selling everything from books to Reiki session and face painting for the kids, there was also plenty of fresh produce form the farm itself available in return for donations.

Among the musicians playing were local indie duo Sam and Ronan and singer songwriter Jack Howell.

The farm, based on former wasteland next to the Foldcroft allotments saw around a hundred people, attend the day’s events, which included a raffle to raise money for the project’s future.

When the day at the farm ended the festivities moved over the The Square on fourth avenue where the entertainment continued into the night with spoken work performances and more music from the likes of PEG and The barren and the General.
