THE Labour party have performed a welcome u-turn on the publication of Budget Consultation Results claim the Harlow Conservatives.

In a press release dated June 30th (14-47) Cllr Jon Clempner (Council Leader) revealed that ‘The results of the consultation will be published with the Council’s budget proposals for 2015/16 announced in early 2015.’

Harlow Conservatives, at the time questioned why there was to be such a delay in the publication of the results with Cllr Andrew Johnson, Leader of Harlow Conservatives calling for the results to be made available sooner than the planned six months to allow them to spark public debate.

Labour led Harlow Council insisted that the results would be published in early 2015 along with the administration’s budget proposals said the Conservatives.

However at the Full Council meeting last week, Labour Leader Jon Clempner backed down and said:

“We will publish the results of this consultation late September, to allow further debate as part of this year’s budget process.” *

Cllr Andrew Johnson, Leader of Harlow Conservatives said:

“Harlow Conservatives welcome the fact that the Labour party have changed their mind and now agree with us. This consultation’s results could be very powerful in sparking public debate on the Council’s budget. I am really glad the Labour party have seen sense.”
