Heavy rains hit Harlow as Bertha comes to town

Update: From Essex Fire Service: 1220 hrs

Firefighters are dealing with about a dozen calls to flooding in the Harlow area.

Four appliances are in Berecroft – where much of the street has flooded following a heavy downpour – and Cooks Spinney. Incidents include an unoccupied property which is flooded and a number of calls where water is affecting electrics.

The calls began at around 10:45 hrs and were still coming in at 11:15 hrs.

Further information will be provided as it becomes available.

Update: 1130 hrs

From Essex Weather Centre: “Harlow had the storms before anyone else this time. Risk of some more later in the day.”

Incident: 1100 hrs

THE remnants of Hurricane Bertha has hit Harlow.

The rains began to fall at just after 10am.

Some side roads began to suffer from surface water.
