Harlow MP welcomes drop in Job Seekers Allowance in Harlow

Politics / Mon 18th Aug 2014 at 06:01pm

HARLOW MP Robert Halfon has welcomed new figures show that 710 fewer people in Harlow are reliant on Job Seekers Allowance since July 2013, a drop of 30%.

This comes on top of the brilliant news that nationally, unemployment has fallen more in the past year than it has in any of the previous twenty five years, and since 2010, 2 million new private sector jobs have been created. Furthermore, 84% of new jobs created in the past year have been full time.

The news is even better for young people, as youth unemployment in Harlow has dropped by 55% since its peak in 2012.

Robert Halfon commented on these figures, saying:

“its excellent news that there has been such a significant drop in unemployment in Harlow since 2010. More people are getting into work, giving local residents the security of a regular pay packet, and themselves and their family a better future”.
