VOLUNTARY groups, residents associations and parish councils can bid for grants of up to £20,000 from Essex County Council to support schemes benefiting their local communities.

The funding is available through the Council’s Community Initiatives Fund, (CIF) which is aimed at helping local groups develop and improve community services.

Local groups can apply for funding for schemes which improve people’s health and wellbeing, enhance their education, create a more sustainable environment or stimulate economic growth.

Groups need to submit an expression of interest form by 29 August.

County Councillor John Jowers, Cabinet Member for Libraries, Communities and Planning, said: ‘Local groups play a major role in communities and it’s so important that they are able to continue their good work, especially during financially difficult times.

“Through making this money available we can help them maintain and further enhance the services they provide for the benefit of the people of Essex.’

All of the applications will be assessed, with shortlisted groups contacted to further develop their bid.

Application forms will then need to be completed by 26 September.

Further details, including the expression of interest form and guidance notes, can be found on the website: www.essex.gov.uk/cif

All completed forms should be sent to [email protected].

A member of the public wanting more information should contact the CIF team on 01245 437887
