Inquest hears how Harlow man died after chasing dog across Second Avenue

A HARLOW dog owner was killed when he was struck by a lorry after chasing one of his pets when it ran into the road, an inquest heard.

Andrew Wiggins, 50, of Great Brays,Harlow, was walking his two dogs in Second Avenue on December 16 last year when the accident happened, Chelmsford Coroner’s Court was told.

The accident happened at 4pm when one of Mr Wiggins’ dogs ran into the road just at the junction with Puffers Green, a hundred yards from the Clock Tower roundabout.

Both Mr Wiggins and the dog were struck by a lorry and were killed.

Mr Wiggins, who suffered facial and brain injuries, was certified dead at the scene.

Area coroner Eleanor McGann recorded a verdict of accidental death.
