Labour’s Suzy Stride calls for ban on wild animals in circuses

Politics / Wed 3rd Sep 2014 at 07:08am

LABOUR’S Parliamentary Candidate for Harlow has launched a campaign calling on David Cameron to ban wild animals in circuses.

Draft legislation to ban wild animals in circuses already exists but the Government has repeatedly dragged its feet and more recently failed to include it in this year’s Queen Speech.

The Labour Party have said that we will introduce the necessary legislation to end this cruel practice.

Suzy Stride, Labour’s Parliamentary Candidate, said:

“Travelling circuses are no place for wild animals.

“No travelling circus could ever provide a suitable environment or meet the particular needs of wild animals such as elephants or lions.

“That’s why I will be campaigning over the summer to support Jim Fitzpatrick MP’s Ten Minute Rule Bill calling on the David Cameron to stop dragging his feet and get on with introducing the necessary legislation to ban the use of wild animals in circuses.

“A reform backed by the British people and already supported by a vote in the House of Commons.”

That's it Suzy! Talk about the major issues! Sometimes sarcasm is the only way!
