Athletics: All hail 100 mile Steve!

HARLOW Running Club member Steve Ambrose completed the exhausting North Downs Way 100, a 100 mile trail race spread over two days and following the picturesque South Downs countryside starting at Farnham in Surrey and finishing at Wye in Kent. The course is very hilly and has a total climb of 9930ft and an overall elevation change of 20,000ft. Ambrose finished in 96th place out of 110 finishers in an incredible 29hrs 24min 28sec.

Meanwhile at the Kent Coastal Marathon, taking in the towns of Broadstairs, Margate and Ramsgate, Gary Godfrey finished in 66th place out of 202 finishers in 3hrs 55min 32sec.

At the Bupa Great North Run Half Marathon Saira Karim finished in 8142nd place out of 41,549 finishers in 1hr 53min 35sec in her debut at the distance and she was followed by Andy Ramage 23,804th in 2hrs 22min 01sec.

Serial double header runner Andy Kinney finished Cheltenham Parkrun 5K in 165th place out of 321 finishers in 27min 14sec and then the next day completed the Cheltenham Half Marathon in 2335th place out of 2944 finishers in 2hrs 18sec 33sec.

At the Gunpowder Parkrun 5K at Waltham Abbey Pushpa Mistry finished in 95th place out of 146 finishers in 29min 20sec.
