Athletics: Kumar the star at Grunty Fen

HARLOW Running Club member Santosh Kumar produced a personal best time for the distance (PB) at the Grunty Fen Half Marathon in Cambridgeshire, finishing in 164th place out of 524 finishers in a superb 1hr 42min 52sec. He was followed home by Paul Lee 293rd in 1hr 55min 01sec, Faith Jackson-Lee 332nd in 1hr 57min 59sec, both in their debut at the distance and Sheila Leach 459th in a PB time of 2hrs 15min 46sec.

Meanwhile at the Ingatestone 5 Mile, over a hilly course around the Essex village, Jamie Jepthcott lead the way in 22nd place out of 133 finishers in an excellent 32min 24sec. He was followed home by John Tennant 37th and 3rd Vet 60 in 34min 16sec, Colin Moody 64th in 38min 05sec, Robin Lozeau 66th in 38min 11sec, Janice Page 77th in 39min 51sec, Martin McColgan 78th in 40min 13sec, Dave Page 88th in 41min 17sec, Debbie Barry 95th in 42min 47sec, Jane Evans 102nd in 43min 54sec in her debut at the distance and Vicky Calver 115th in a PB time of 47min 38sec.

At the Dunstable Downs Challenge, a 20 mile off road trail run, Brendon MacLean finished in 18th place out of 55 finishers in a superb 3hrs 15min 39sec and Holly Nairn was 48th in 4hrs 03min 24sec.

At the Gunpowder Parkrun 5K at Waltham Abbey Jason Haigh finished in 13th place out of 104 finishers in 21min 16sec. He was followed home by Robin Lozeau 34th in 23min 09sec, Spenser Brooks 36th in 23min 34sec, Andy Kinney 63rd in 27min 56sec, Pushpa Mistry 72nd in 28min 59sec and Laura Seaward 82nd in 30min 33sec.

At the Chelmsford Parkrun 5K Janice Page finished in 122nd place out of 372 finishers in a superb 24min 34sec. She was followed home by husband David 133rd in 24min 59sec, Justin Patten 167th in 25min 49sec, Freya Turner-Porter 275th in 29min 57sec in her debut at the distance and Laura Rideout 309th in 32min 01sec.

At the following Parkruns, at Winchester Richard Solomons finished in 25th place out of 196 finishers and 1st Vet 65 in 21min 25sec, at Great Notley Sharon Wright finished in 18th place out of 110 finishers in 22min 36sec, at Walsall Susan Maloney finished in 126th place out of 223 finishers in 28min 46sec and at Tonbridge Alan Wellbelove finished in 157th place out of 240 finishers in a PB time of 30min 39sec.
