HARLOW MP Robert Halfon has met with Greater Anglia at Conservative Party Conference and pressed them on the need for greater punctuality, better cleanliness on trains, and for the company to communicate more clearly with their passengers.

Figures from Greater Anglia show that their trains have had a rate of 92% punctuality over the past year.

During the meeting, Robert received the following commitments from Greater Anglia:

Greater Anglia are currently in the process of hiring an extra 50 cleaning staff to improve cleanliness on their services.

Greater Anglia is also rolling out a system for online compensation for season ticket holders who suffer delays. This will be quicker and more efficient than the current system.

Smart card ticketing will be on the franchise within the next year.

They are aiming to get drivers to communicate more clearly with passengers when there are delays to around 90% of the time (up from 70% of the time at the moment).

They will also be putting more resources into Twitter so that passengers are more informed about service changes in real time.

Robert Halfon commented: “I am pleased that Greater Anglia are making some important improvements to their services. I will be speaking to the Government about the renewal of the franchise in 2016 to ask for improvements in rolling stock.”
