Car sought after cyclist knocked down on Southern Way

POLICE in Harlow are appealing for information after a cyclist was injured by a car driving in Southern Way. It happened sometime between 5.30am and 5.50am on Monday, January 12. The cyclist, who is aged 20 and from Harlow, was pushing his bicycle across the road near to the Staple Tye roundabout when he was in collision with a black vehicle. He was knocked over and the vehicle drove off.
The cyclist took himself to the local hospital where he received treatment for a bruised spinal cord and vertebrae but was then referred to Queens Hospital in London due the severity of his injuries. He has been released from hospital and attended Harlow police station today (Thursday, January 22) to report the incident.
Investigating Officer Pc Ivor Stephenson said: “The only description we have of the vehicle is that it is black. We have no description of the driver or the direction the vehicle was travelling in. The exact location of the collision is not known but it happened somewhere on Southern Way between Abercrombie Way and Tillwicks Road.”
