Athletics: Carinne’s purple patch continues

HARLOW Running Club member Carinne Jay created a new club record in the Female
Vet 50 category when she completed the Gunpowder parkrun 5K at Waltham Abbey.
Jay finished in 20th place out of 194 finishers in 21min 48sec which is also a
personal best time for the distance. In what was a good week for Jay, she also
picked up the Decathlon Club Member of the Month Award for October for winning
the Essex Silver and Bronze medals in her age category at the the Tiptree 10
Mile and Pleshey Half Marathon respectively. Jamie Luck also completed the
Gunpowder parkrun, finishing in 33rd place in 22.43.
Meanwhile at the Stevenage Half Marathon Sean Flynn finished in 138th place out
of 514 finishers in 1hr 43min 22sec and John Tennant was 139th in 1.43.24.
Further afield, at the Golden Gate Half Marathon in San Francisco Jeff Mace
finished in 3109th place out of 4202 finishers in 2hrs 37min 19sec.
At the Harlow parkrun 5K Amaniel Tesfay was 1st finisher out of 197 finishers in
19min 56sec. He was followed home by Terry Ridge 11th in 21.52, John Bull 13th
in 22.58, Steve Jack 28th in 24.02, Martin Westley 34th in 24.54, Martin Elven
51st in 26.44, Justin Patten 57th in 27.08, Louise Kedge 61st in 27.21, Brenda
Clayton 100th in 30.53, Pushpa Mistry 120th in 31.56, Catheridge Ridge 124th in
32.37, Graham Saville 129th in 32.56, Louise Cootes 131st in 32.57, Holly Nairn
132nd in 32.58, Kerry Mavris 133rd in 33.00, Robin Lozeau 134th in 33.00, Debbie
Barry 135th in 33.00, Spencer Brooks 136th in 33.01, Andy Smith 137th in 33.01,
Carmen Byfield 138th in 33.01, Hossein Erfani 139th in 33.02, Alison Bull 145th
in 33.15, Jane Evans 146th in 33.27, Wendy Spring 148th in 33.29, Paul Schroder
149th in 33.33, Andy Terrell 151st in 33.37 and Paul Dixon 158th in 34.16. This
was Wendy Spring and Pauil Schroder’s last race before they are married next
weekend.
At the Hatfield Forest parkrun 5K Jamie Jephcott finished in 6th place out of
245 finishers in 19min 02sec. He was followed by Owen Haigh 12th in 20.03, Alan
Broughton 14th in 20.18, David Page 99th in 26.07 and Laura Jephcott 135th in
28.14.
At the Bracknell parkrun 5K Brendon MacLean finished in 11th place out of 321
finishers in 20min 46sec.
At the Penrose parkrun 5K in Cornwall Paul Lee finished in 33rd place out of 219
finishers in 21min 44sec and Faith Jackson-Lee was 44th in 22.42.
At the Hoddesdon parkrun 5K Mark Coulter finished in 5th place out of 56
finishers in 22min 22sec and Alan Wellbelove was 35th in 31.46.
