Kiddi Leave

THE staff at Kiddi Caru’s Harlow day nursery have been busy helping to prepare its pre-school children and their parents for the exciting move to ‘big school’.

As part of the nursery’s Readiness For School programme Jennie Ferguson, a reception class teacher at Henry More school, came to talk to the parents about what to expect when their child first starts school.

The pre-school team have also been organising visits from the children’s teachers so that they can get to know them and the children have also been doing role play with the actual uniforms they will be wearing. In addition there have been group phonic sessions, which will help the children to prepare for the type of activities they will be doing in reception class.

Louise Farrow, Nursery Manager, said: “This can be a potentially daunting time for the pre-schoolers and their parents. They are used to nursery life and the transition to primary school is a big step for them. Their days will be very different there so we thought it would be a good idea to give them an insight into what it will be like. It’s also a very poignant time for the pre-school team, it’s always sad when our pre-schoolers leave us and we will miss them all very much.”
