Premier League football kits have been awarded to Roydon Primary Academy.

THE Primary Stars kit and equipment pack contains 13 Nike football kits with the Premier League logo which can be worn by players in football matches or tournaments.

The Kit and Equipment Scheme is part of the Premier League Primary Stars offered to primary schools.

The curriculum-linked education programme uses the appeal of the Premier League and its clubs to inspire children to learn, be active and develop life skills.

Richard Scudamore, executive chairman of the Premier League and Football Foundation trustee, said: “Congratulations to Roydon Primary Academy on their successful application for a Premier League Primary Stars Kit and equipment pack. We hope this kit, coupled with the free downloadable online resources, will help teachers harness the popularity of football to inspire primary school kids in everything from maths and English to teamwork and sport.”

Year 5 teacher and football co-ordinator at Roydon Matt Girvan said: “I am delighted the school has been awarded such a fantastic prize. We are a small school with an even smaller budget so we could only dream of being able to wear such professional and high-end kits at football matches and tournaments.

“The children are absolutely buzzing and have been extremely vocal in their eagerness to improve their skills and fight for their place on a team. The chance to play in a shirt with the world-famous Premier League logo on the sleeve is a dream for many children and one I hope we can make possible for as many of our pupils as possible.”
