NORWICH HAVE UNION TILL THE END

NORWICH RFC 41 V 14 EPPING UPPER CLAPTON RFC

IT seems EUCRFC’s travels to the far reaches of East Anglia are affecting their ability to finish games off! Good starts are not being converted in to full time victories. For the second time now, Epping Upper Clapton have entered the last quarter of an away game, ahead on points and seemingly ‘in the game’ only for the hosts to take the initiative and produce a plethora of late points. Firstly the season opener at Ipswich and now on this occasion Norwich.

14-10 ahead with 20 minutes remaining, a crucial Sin-binning for Clapton allowed Norwich back into the game. The numerical advantage allowed them to immediately score! 4 further late tries for the host’s, including a hat trick for their debutant winger and it was game over. The final score did not really reflect the overall run of play. Norwich had been clinical in their finishing and seized the momentum when it had come their way.

Clapton’s defence had been resolute throughout, and they had shown better attacking options than in previous weeks with their backs always dangerous. EUCRFC’s tries had come from debutant Fly Half Dan Jones who had finished a move with a jinky run and the perennial Mitch Sinfield that added to his season’s tally from the base of the scrum. Both were converted.

EUCRFC take a break for a week before a run of 3 games against fellow League strugglers. They will be looking for successes here which will allow the Epping based club to pull away from the present lower reaches of this league.
