THE doors of Burnt Mill Academy’s main hall were thrown open as the Club Foot Community Christmas Fayre came to town for the first time.

More than 30 festive stalls offered luxury gifts, homemade cheese and chutney, cakes, stocking fillers, custom art canvases, as well as a raffle, tombola and children’s games.

Burnt Mill students and house leaders ran stalls to raise funds for their school events, while Herts & Essex Community Farm ran games for their charity.

The recent Battle of the Bands contest winners, Monocroma – made up of Year 9 to 11 students from Burnt Mill, Izzy Baker, Amber Butcher, Katy Thomas and Libby Slow – took to the stage to keep the crowds entertained, with drinks served from Bar Humbug.

Adam Smith, Club Foot event organiser, said: “We wanted to expand and improve on the usual school fete and try to attract more people from outside of the school’s families and friends. We were able to attract a great variety of stalls to take part in this first event with us.

“There were a lot of comments made about the high quality of products on offer. The feedback has been great, so we will definitely be looking to make it a regular event.”
