Cantabrigians 25 v 15 Harlow
London & SE Div II NE

OCTOBER last year Harlow won this fixture at Latton Park by 44 to 26.
With sickness in the camp veteran prop Paul Prindiville was called up into the front row.

Harlow needed an improved performance from last week and within 4 minutes the Harlow backs spun the ball wide and wing forward Weston punched through the line to score the first try with only four minutes gone.

The next 20 minutes saw Cantabs heavy pack taking on Harlow up front. On a heavy pitch Harlow’s pack found themselves going backwards and scrum half Charlie Woodington was struggling to get any clean ball.
With half an hour gone Cantabs pack found themselves 20 metres from the Harlow line. With Harlow  defending a driving maul on a slippery surface, Cantabs experienced pack set up their scrum half for an easy try bringing the scores level at 5 – 5.

With 10 minutes to go  Cantabs scored their second try from a driving 5 metre scrum.Harlow responded straight away by spreading the ball across the park stretching their opponents defence. Great handling saw a gap opening up for Scott Stalley grabbing the opportunity to score Harlow’s second try.

With the half time score at 12 – 12 Harlow needed to find answers to Cantabs powerful scrum and their domination in the line out to have a chance of winning the game.
With 5 minutes gone Cantabs kicked through Harlow’s defence and their hooker ran on to the ball scoring Cantabs third try. With the score at 17 – 12 Cantabs found themselves going down to 14 men with their wing forward yellow carded. Fly half Danny Smith took advantage by converting a penalty, bringing Harlow within two points of Cantabrigians.

With half an hour gone Cantabs reinforced their lead from a driving lineout. At 22 – 15 Harlow were at least in with a bonus. But then oint With seconds to go Cantabs were awarded a kickable penalty, which they sadly converted bringing the final score to Cantabrigians 25 – Harlow 15.

This Saturday Harlow are at home in a cup game to Wanstead who are third in the league and have only been beaten three times all season and that in their game last Saturday to leaders Rochford. They will represent a tough challenge for Harlow. Perhaps more important for Harlow is to use the game to settle their squad in anticipation of the coming league matches, On the 17th February they meet 11th placed Woodford at home and then on the 3rd March they entertain leaders Rochford.
