St Clare Hospice want to blow away the Blue Monday blues

Charity / Mon 21st Jan 2019 pm31 12:06pm

THE third Monday of January (Monday 21st January) has been awarded the gloomy title of Blue Monday, due to a combination of post-Christmas blues, cold dark nights and most people having already broken their new year’s resolutions. But the St Clare Hospice weekly lottery is at hand to cheer people up.

Players of the St Clare Hospice weekly lottery can win weekly cash prizes of up to £1,000, and get the chance of scooping the roll-over prize of up to £10,000, to boost their post-Christmas bank balances. At the same time they are supporting their local charity lottery, which makes a real difference to the lives of local people going through one of life’s hardest journeys.

People can play the hospice’s weekly lottery for as little as £1 per week – which, over the course of a month, is enough to pay for a more than 1 hour of the hospice’s vital 24-hour advice line. The phone line is manned 24 hours a day and specialist nurses are on hand to answer calls from patients, family members, carers and other healthcare professionals, ensuring patients and families get the care, support and information they need, whenever they need it.

The St Clare Hospice weekly lottery has been running for over 20 years and currently has more than 15,000 weekly entries, which generate more than £375,000 in funding for the Hastingwood-based hospice. Each week the Lottery awards a total of £1,300 in guaranteed prizes, not including the rollover which increases every week in increments of £200 up to the maximum of £10,000.

Paula Fogg, St Clare Hospice Lottery Manager, said: “People can feel good by doing good when they sign up for our weekly lottery. St Clare Hospice changes the lives of so many people, day in day out, and by playing our Lottery you will be making a real difference to local families. And with a chance to play every week for a whole year, for just £52, it’s a real win-win opportunity!”
