London 3 Essex
Harlow 26 v 6 Campion
WITH the two top teams, Upminster and Chelmsford playing each other, Harlow needed a five point win to stay in contention for a promotion slot in London 3.Essex.
If Harlow thought they had an easy game, they were quickly proven wrong.
Campion’s backs used the full width of the pitch to test the Harlow defence.
The first 10 minutes saw both teams trying to gain momentum and find some pattern of play in the middle of the park. A clash between the two second row’s didn’t help with play being delayed for 10 minutes as ther injuries were dealt with. Play then continued and Campion got the first points of the day with Harlow conceding a penalty.
23 minutes into the game Harlow were finally getting into their rhythm.
A break from outside half Rick Hobbs passing to his brother Jake broke through the Campion defence , with a final pass to back row Dan Stevenson placing the ball under the posts. With Rick’s conversation Harlow started to take control of the game at 7 – 3.
Then winger Dale Stalley found a moment of genius as he started to run the ball out of his own half. Avoiding Campions attempts to tackle him he ran in Harlow’s second try.
With a third try from Joel Drake, Harlow found themselves in a comfortable lead at 19 – 3. Harlow were penalised with hands in the ruck and a converted penalty which made the score 19 – 6 at Half Time.
After the team talks at the break Campion continued to make things difficult for Harlow. The home side tried to grind Campion down with some excellent strong scrummaging.
Trying to find an opening for their forth try and bonus point. Jake Hobbs found that opening in the Campion defence and was rewarded with Harlow’s bonus point try.
The final score ended Harlow 26 Campion 6.
This result makes it 7 league wins in a row for Harlow. Lying in third place 3 points behind league leaders Chelmsford.
