ON TUESDAY, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate, Robert Halfon, presented sporting awards for endeavour and achievement to pupils with disabilities from schools all across Essex, including Harlow.
Over 600 children with special needs and their helpers from schools in Essex attended the annual President’s Club Sports Awards ceremony in Essex, and were treated to a lunch served by catering students at Harlow College.
Robert was invited to present the awards alongside sporting icons, paralympians and journalists, including Peter Shilton OBE, Bob Champion MBE, John Conteh MBE, Tony Cottee and BBC LookEast’s, Stewart White, amongst others.
One worthy winner was Callum, a pupil at Harlowfields School in Harlow. 47 students and 20 teachers from Harlowfields School attended the awards ceremony to help celebrate Callum’s achievement.
Robert Halfon said: “I was thrilled to be able to present Callum, from Harlowfields School, with a Sports Award today to recognise his incredible commitment and endeavour.
“The President’s Club Sports Awards were an inspirational celebration of hard work in the face of adversity. The event was helped to be such a success by the brilliant catering pupils and their teachers at Harlow College. A huge well done to all of you.”
The Chairman of the Presidents Sporting Club & Essex Disabled Sports Foundation, Mike Jackson MBE, said: “I was really pleased to invite Robert to the President’s Sporting Club & Essex Disabled Sports Foundation Sports Awards today.
“It was great that Robert was able to take time out of his busy schedule campaigning for re-election in Harlow to come and present awards to the deserving winners, including from Harlowfields School.”
