THE HEADTEACHER of St James’s C of E school has praised one of her pupils who has raised over £1500 for the Australian bushfires.

As we reported over the weekend, Rundells resident, Keira, aged 6, hosted a Lemonade stall at the weekend.

By Wednesday morning, Keira had raised over £2000.

It all came about through a lesson at the school, where they discussed the bushfires and how they could help.

It is clear that the headteacher of the Vine Academy Trsut, which covers both St James’ and William Martin is very very proud.

Executive headteacher, Gina Bailey said: “I know that I can speak for all of the staff and children of St James’, how proud we are of Keira for taking the initiative to raise money for such an amazing cause.

After hearing about how terrible the fires are in Australia during Collective Worship, the children discussed what they could do to raise money both in the school and individually, we never would have guessed that Keira would go with this and have such an impact and raise so much money by selling her homemade lemonade!

“She is an outstanding example of being a global citizen, well done Kiera you are a superstar!”
