Harlow 27 v 5 East London

DESPITE three late changes Harlow started Saturdays game with strength and determination. Taking the game to East London the Red Men tested the opposition pinning them back to their 10 metre line. A show of pace from winger Jack Almond (Pacman) drew two defenders and a well timed pass before being tackled to the floor, gave Jake Hobbs the space to score Harlow’s first try.

The Home side continued to put pressure on East London with a scrum metres from their try line. The pack drove East London backwards giving No 8 Eoin Morrissey the easy task of picking the ball up and diving over the line.

At 10 – 0 Harlow had the opportunity to kill the game but East London had other ideas. The away side saw themselves attacking Harlows 22 metre line and a cheeky cross kick was caught by their winger to score East London’s first try. For the final 10 minutes of the half Harlow defended their lines preying for the half time whistle. Harlow were relieved ending the first half with a 10 – 5 lead.

Harlow started the second half with renewed strength. A turn of pace from Pacman saw him running through the East London defence and scoring Harlow’s third try under the posts.Giving an easy conversation kick for Rick Hobbs stretching Harlow’s lead to 17 – 5.

Learning from the first half Harlow kept the pressure on . A strong scrummage from Harlow’s pack gave clean ball for the backs to stretch East London’s defence and winger Scott Whitby, room to run in Harlow’s fourth bonus point try.

At 22- 5 Harlow secured victory with a fifth try. A controlled driving maul from a 5 metre line out saw hooker Mitch Hodgkinson skilfully finishing off the move sealing victory for Harlow.

Final score Harlow 27 East London 5.
