The St Clare 10k 2020 race returns this April
LIMBER up for St Clare Hospice’s popular, annual 10k race, which will take place this spring on Sunday 5th April in Hastingwood.
The St Clare 10k is a chip-timed road race, run under UK Athletics rulings. Setting off from St Clare Hospice in Hastingwood (CM17 9JX) at 10.30am, participants will take on a 10k route through the beautiful, countryside roads of Hastingwood. This route is suitable for all abilities – whether you are looking to get fit for summer, are a regular club runner or are a wheelchair athlete looking for a new personal best.
At the 2019 race, 400 local runners and wheelchair athletes gathered at their local hospice to take part in the St Clare 10k, raising around £15,000 in vital funds for the charity.
“With such a hugely successful event last year, we’re hoping to once again raise thousands for St Clare Hospice to help fund our care and support services for local people facing a life-limiting illness,” says Emma Broadbent, Challenges & Events Fundraiser at St Clare Hospice.
“Your registration fees for our much-loved St Clare 10k help us to cover the running costs of the event, but it’s really the sponsorship raised that helps us generate income for the Hospice,” Emma explains. “We encourage participants to create a fundraising page to collect sponsorship for running in the 10k, calling on friends, family, colleagues and other local people to support you! It’s with thanks to our local community that we’re able to provide our compassionate care for those who really need it – so thank you for your support.”
Participants must be aged 15+ to take part. Entry is £12 for affiliated runners, £14 for non-affiliated runners. The deadline for advanced sign-ups is Monday 30th March. If you wish to sign up on the day, it costs an extra £3 on top of the pre-race registration price. The registration desk will be open from 9:00am on the day, with the race starting at 10:30am.
