Business owner Ash set to skydive for St Clare Hospice

Business / Wed 26th Feb 2020 at 05:18pm

LOCAL business owner Ash Durant owner of Intercounty Computers in Sawbridgeworth is taking part in the 30 Make 30K challenge for St Clare Hospice – a local charity which cares for people with life-limiting illnesses and their families.

Ash, 36 who is based in Sawbridgeworth will be launching himself out of a plane at 15,000ft dressed as a superhero of public choosing; the costume result coming from a Facebook Poll scheduled for Sunday 1st March. The jump itself will take place on Saturday 9th May at 12 noon at Beccles Airfield, Suffolk. Ash decided to take on this challenge because growing up in Harlow, he has seen the amazing work that St Clare do and the care they have provided to many of his family and friends over the years. He is also highly supportive of them through business networking events around Herts and Essex.

Ash, whose IT expertise helps local businesses, charities and home users with their IT issues said: “I’m not going to lie; I’m scared stiff – I have never done anything like this before, but I wanted to grab the attention of the local community, my clients and St Clare supporters and try and raise as much money as possible. Doing this jump, dressed as whichever superhero the great public choose, will hopefully put a smile on peoples’ faces and vital funds in St Clare’s purse. St Clare do an incredible job but with limited NHS funding; thanks to the fundraising initiatives and support of the community, St Clare is able to be there for local people and their whole family.”

Sarah Thompson, Chief Executive of St Clare Hospice, added: “Every year St Clare Hospice supports hundreds of families across West Essex and East Herts who are going through one of life’s hardest journeys. We want to be there to care for each and every person with a life-limiting illness who needs us. That is why we are so grateful to Ash for all the hard work he has put in to training for this challenge. The funds raised help St Clare to make a huge difference to the lives of local people and their loved ones every day. Thank you, Ash!”
The money Ash raises will go towards St Clare Hospice’s vital services, such as the charity’s Inpatient Unit, Day Therapy service, Hospice at Home care service and 24-hour advice line.
